Duke Energy Corp. (North Carolina) shut down its nuclear reactors today...dropping the USA's nuclear energy output by 1.8 percent. This is all because a fish clogged an intake strainer
I'm also kind of curious of what the other effects are. When something like that shuts down, it has to cool down and as you know, that does a lot of damage to the pipes and housing equipment within the reactor plant. Did they use this time to do maintenance and inspect for any damage caused? Also, did they eat the fish?
